This collection is made up of a three piece cannister set my mom gave me, which she had owned for years & years, & a sweet little pitcher my mother-in-law gave me that I think she said belonged to her grandmother. I love them all.

An annual tradition we’ve had for a few years is taking the grandkids to Pisgah Forest in Brevard, NC. Heaven on earth. Part of that tradition is that we have each grandchild choose a rock when we’re wading in the icy NC waters as a souvenier of our visit. This one was chosen by Regan & Levi (the “R” & “L”) but I can’t make out what the other scribbling is. I add the rocks to the pile each year.

Tonight we had an amazing bridal — oh, wait til you see this one! – & on the way Derrick spotted this bad to the bone Camaro for sale.

I have been watching for the return of these little guys for weeks, & they finally made their appearance today Hummingbirds make me happy.

It’s a good thing we aren’t rich, because Derrick would spend way too much on clothes. The man is a serious clothes hound. Thank goodness he has good taste! This is a pair of vintage cufflinks we foind at an antique store.

Sometimes art is in the eye of the beholder I went out to the garage to check on what Brooks was up to, & kind of liked his shadow on the garage wall as he was tinkering around on his work bench.

Since she has lost a few pounds (per her vet’s “tsk, tsk” sounds when she weighed Lilo at her last visit), Lilo has regained some of that puppy energy. Or maybe she’s just hungry & this ball looks appetizing.

Teresa & Mathias’ Civil Ceremony

There’s a first time for everything, & this was my first civil wedding; a totally different vibe, but every bit as sweet & touching as a full-blown wedding. The wedding officiant was Brenda Owen (aka the Wedding Woman). Rain threatened but held off while the birds gave us a sweet soundtrack. After the ceremony we got a few shots there at the ceremony location then headed to Portman Marina for some additonal shots.

Sometimes all the elements come together for a session that makes a shiver run down my spine; Kealah’s bridal was one of those. There was the amazing vintage chair that Travis & Adele Graham let us borrow, Kealah’s 10-on-the-wow-factor fuschia shoes, & a girl that photograph’s like nobody’s business. Here’s her session that took place on the beautiful Furman campus.

Nope, we din’t forget or slack off yesterday – I simply had a wedding to shoot & got home at an ungodly hour for posting. (Yes. There is such an hour.) So here is my shot from yesterday, followed by Derrick’s, then both of ours from today.

I first saw these killer shoes at Kealah Harris’ bridal session. I was not any less impressed at her wedding yesterday.

“Everybody hates dandelions, ” Derrick said, “until they see them in a field.” It’s all about perspective.

They look lonely. Don’t they know I shot a wedding for 6 1/2 hours yesterday?? I will not feel guilty….no matter how sad & dejected they look.

My father’s father, Clarence F. Faulkner, was a presence as big as a Charleston oak in my life. His pre-maturely-silver hair was big, his hands were big, his nose (like mine) was big. His smile was huge. After he died over 6 years ago, my dad gave me Granddaddy’s old suitcase, bearing this leather name tag. What I love is it shows his old address in Athens, Ga. (where they lived when I was very small, & I remember so much about that home) marked through with his final address in Carrollton, Ga. written in above it.

Something I started collecting years ago is these grapevine glasses. They were popular in the 40s, made by a company named Bartlett Collins. We don’t use them very often but I love to bust ‘em out when we have special company

Isn’t it amazing how something can look totally like something else? Doesn’t thsi havy morning dew look a lot like a freak summer ice??
